The effect of the "Day Without a Mexican" in So. Cali.
While I worked today I checked in on the websites of the major newspapers in San Diego County, and on the way home I listened to L.A. radio, and it appears that the impact of the "Day Without an Immigrant" on Southern California (considered by many Mexican activists to be the Capitol of Aztlan) was largely POSITIVE!
The majority of the comments I read and heard were along the lines of: "Traffic was GREAT without all of the extra cars on the highways!", "I was able to find parking at the mall and inside there weren't crowds of people who weren't speaking English", and "I had to go to the emergency room and I was able to get right in, when usually it is a 2-hour wait!".
The comment I liked the MOST, though, was, "Why didn't all of the illegals take their "day off" going to the Immigration Office to start the process toward legal citizenship rather than hanging aroung the parks chanting that they have "rights to be here" without observing the laws of our country?"
So, there you have it...
For MY part, I drove around several of my favorite Mexican restaurants and took note of the ones that were closed, so that I can mark them OFF of my list of favorite Mexican restaurants!
I HOPE THE PROTESTERS FEEL SUCCESSFUL!
