I was a "radical", I suppose, while I was in junior high and high school in the late 60's and early 70's, so I have, I suppose, a bit of a soft spot for the teenagers who have been skipping classes for the last several days in southern California--at least I have a bit of embarasment for my own involvement as I remember that most of US were just trying to get out of classes, too (except in my case I was also trying to hook up with college hippy chicks--but to no avail).

But at least "in our day" we knew what we were protesting against... Even if our rationale was no more clearly formed than, "This fucking war, man!" But the idiots now don't even have THAT much of an informed idea. "Immigration policy" they'll tell you, but when asked they don't know if they're protesting the policy as it is, or as it is being proposed. They also don't know that the proposed policy change that they don't know is the reason they are all marching was GUTTED yesterday by the open-borders socialists in the Senate, so they don't have anything left to protest--yet today's protests are larger than those in previous days.

Also, we either flew or burned (not me, personally) AMERICAN flags--as opposed to today's idiots who are marching around waving MEXICAN flags... Now, think this through with me for a moment. They LEFT Mexico to violate our laws because they wanted SO BADLY to be in America--but they are flying the MEXICAN flag to protest AMERICAN (formerly proposed) policies... Does that make any sense???

A caller to a radio talk show last night commented that "storming the borders of a neighboring country and flying a foreign flag is an act of an invading army!" he went on to say that the intruders ought to be treated as enemy combatants and SHOT! Despite the fact that some of them are my students, I have to admit that he is right.
