There was another school shooting yesterday in Minnesota. It was, in fact, the most deadly school shooting since the Columbine tragedy. The killing spree was possibly prompted by Neo-Nazi idealogies. But you heard nothing of it yesterday, because...
-->NEWS FLASH!<-- Terri Schiavo is Still Dead! Schiavo valiantly hangs on to her right to remain dead despite 15 years of family wrangling in and out of court, the heavy-handed interference of Florida's Governor Bush, and an unprecidented show of political grandstanding by the US Congress.
This poor woman died 15 years ago, and for years her husband tried everything possible to bring her back to life, without success. Finally, he worked through his denial and decided to allow her the dignity of dying, only to be stopped by her family. If her husband was the heartless bastard that the family is trying to paint him as, he would throw up his hands and cut all ties to the family and to their Terri Schiavo blow-up doll. But he is trying to do the honorable thing in allowing her stated wishes to be fulfilled.
The involvement of the Congress is the most blatant usurpation of both personal and of state's rights in the history of this nation, and is an incredibly dangerous precident! It is obvious that the politicians who became involved were doing so in order to get on some popular bandwagon to curry favor (and votes) from an inflamed and impassioned mob. If we tolerate our legislature passing knee-jerk legislation such as this, there will be no end to the infringement they will impose on our personal liberties.
Be it known by all who read this that in the event that I am ever found to be in a vegetative state, if I lose all brain function, or that my body is no longer able to survive by natural means, MY wishes are for NO artificial steps to be taken to prolong my death.
In fact, if I become so incapacitated that I am unable to take my OWN life, if I so desire, I wish to be terminated!
I have NO fear of death, and have NO desire to become a meat-puppet supposedly representative of the person I formerly was.
