So, this isn't an opinion of which I am terribly proud--and one that may wind me up in jail someday, but here it is: You have got to hand it to the Maryland Sniper--he is doing his best to, in accordance with his own standards, THIN THE HERD.
As I look around at the state of our modern society and the world in general, I think of the justification the Disney's Wonderful World of Color gave for following predators around and cheerfully narrating their brutal conquest of weaker prey: "It is survival of the fittest. The [insert predator name here] is doing the [insert prey species here] herd a favor, by eliminating the weaker and less fit members of the herd so that only the stronger and healthy members can breed and reproduce"...
As I look around our "herd", it is obvious that, as Harvey Danger said so eloquently, "only stupid people are breeding", and it will (according to all I have been able to absorb about genetics and selective breeding) mean our eventual demise. So, someone who has the balls to do his own "elimination of undesireables" has to, (to a point) be admired. If only his selection procedure were more obvious.
If the sniper were following some script, rather that his apparent random targeting of innocents, I might be able to quietly get behind his endevors, at least philosophically. If he seemed to be targeting urban/gangster/subhumans, or terrorist/america-and-jew-hating/ragheads, or never-should-have-been-given-a license/cellphone-addicted/air-headed-motor-mouths, there would be those (of us) in society who might nominate him for an award...
...but it's only an opinion...
